Senior Accountant - Property Management

Estabilished in 2007, VineBrook Homes is an internally managed Midwest-based real estate investment company, focused on acquiring, renovating, leasing and operating single-family homes as rental properties.  We own or manage over 4,000+ SFRH assets in 6 states and 7 major Midwestern cities.  Additionally, VineBrook Homes is currently undergoing the next major expansion of its strategy, expecting to drive toward 7,500+ units. 

We are currently seeking a qualified Senior Accountant in the finance department to help ensure the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization. We are seeking a candidate who desires a long-term career opportunity with a successful company in the residential services industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Tasks-Duties-Responsibilities for this position.

  1. Analyzes accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the department.
  2. Reviews records of accounts to ensure accuracy.
  3. Uses systems for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies.
  4. Follows policy and procedures documents for accounting and bookkeeping personnel.
  5. Supports the completion of financial period closings within established deadlines.
  6. Prepare and record journal entries
  7. Reconcile and analyze assigned balance sheet accounts
  8. Assists in year-end audit preparation.
  9. Performs intuitive ad-hoc reporting as needed.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent number of years of experience.
  2. 2 years' of corporate accounting experience.
  3. Data entry skills
  4. Strong Mathematics
  5. Time Management skills
  6. Experience using accounting software.
  7. Accounting and Reconciliation Skills.
  8. Intermediate or Better Excel Skills
  9. Ethical Conduct.
  10. Thoroughness
  11. Performs with minimal supervision
  12. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals
  13. Common Sense

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Prior experience using YARDI accounting software is a plus but not required

Additional Requirements

  1. Pass a Motor Vehicle, Drug Screen, Credit, and Criminal Background Check.
