VineBrook Homes is an internally managed Midwest-based real estate investment company, focused on acquiring, renovating, leasing and operating single-family homes as rental properties. An early investor and developer of the Single-Family Rental Home (SFRH) asset class, we commenced operations in late 2007. Our proven, yield-focused investment strategy, targets a unique opportunity building a portfolio of "Optimal House" assets in key Midwest markets. We own or manage over 3,000+ SFRH assets in 4 states and 4 major Midwestern cities. Additionally, VineBrook Homes is currently undergoing the next major expansion of its strategy, expecting to drive toward 7,500+ units.

Summary/Objective The Collections Clerk is primarily responsible for pursuing and collecting all delinquent accounts for the Company, by administrating all collection processes and procedures for the most effective collections results.

 Essential Functions

  1. Pursue collections on all delinquent accounts (current and past residents)
  2. Provide professional customer service for residents and internal departments
  3. Generate and prepare correspondence and notices regarding payment discrepancies, outstanding balances, and court information with all Couriers
  4. Determine which accounts should be processed for Eviction, in accordance with Company policy
  5. Prepare and obtain approval for filing with outside Attorneys
  6. Obtain documentation requested for legal hearings and provide to Attorneys by required deadlines
  7. Verify debt, prepare accounts, and provide documentation for approval for turnover to an outside Collection Agency
  8. Prepare delinquency reporting for Property Managers
  9. Coordinate vacancy inspections for Evictions and delinquent residents
  10. Analyze ledgers for accuracy and process adjustments as necessary
  11. Keep detailed notes within Property Management system and spreadsheets for any correspondence made with residents
  12. Review and process accounts for Write-Off, in accordance with policy
  13. Answer telephone calls and email inquiries from residents
  14. Manage the shared email inbox for resident questions
  15. Update Salesforce for eviction/set outs
  16. Act as a backup and for the A/R Clerk position.


  1. Attention to detail and willingness to follow proper policy and procedures
  2. Must possess exceptional organizational skills
  3. Ability cross train on other tasks as needed, and to provide backup coverage for other positions within the AR/Collections department
  4. Capability to perform general office duties such as filing, answering telephones and emails, and routine correspondence
  5. Experience with computerized accounting systems, Microsoft office software, and standard office equipment (copiers, calculators, computers)

This is a full-time position.

 Required Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma.
  2. Two plus years previous experience.

 Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Prior experience using a property management software, YARDI accounting software is preferred.

  1. Must be able to pass a background check.
